KARAKTERISTIK PAVING BLOCK BERPORI DENGAN BAHAN DASAR ABU TERBANG (FLY ASH) DARI PLTU 2 AMURANG SULAWESI UTARA

Porous paving block is one of the innovations in the field of construction material, especially for road pavement. In order to improve the quality of porous paving blocks, this research uses fly ash waste taken at PLTU 2 Amurang, North Sulawesi as a partial replacement for cement with a percentage of 30%,40%,50%, and 60% by the weight of cement. In this research, the characteristics of porous paving blocks were tested,namely compressive strength, flexural strength, and void ratio with a cement:coarseaggregate:fine aggregate mix ratio of 1:2:1 and water/cement = 0.3. Based on the test results, it was found that the mixture with 30% fly ash gave higher compressive strength and flexural strength values than other mixtures with fly ash. However,the values were still lower than those of mixtures without fly ash. The results showed the potential application of using fly ash as a substitute for cement in porous paving blocks for parking lots (Quality B) according to the Indonesian National Standard. Further research is expected to be developed using mixture modification by increasing the ratio of cement:coarse aggregate to obtain maximum results related to the function of porous paving blocks in reducing rainwater runoff through increasing the void ratio or cavity content.
