Abstract

Batam City is known as an industrial hub, with the majority of its population employed in the industrial sector. The prevalence of industries in the Batam City area has led to a reduction in urban vegetation, resulting in an increase in land surface temperature. The rise in land surface temperature is a consequence of urban land management activities, particularly in areas with minimal vegetation cover. This research aims to analyze the correlation between Land Surface Temperature (LST) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) using the Plank Algorithm method. The regression equation employed is y = a + bx. To assess the level of correlation between LST and NDVI, we used a geostatistical analysis approach and visualized it through a scatter plot. The research findings indicate a positive correlation between LST and NDVI, showing that as land surface temperature increases, so does the NDVI value. The correlation equation determined is y = 4.23015x + 34.4405, with an R-squared (R^2) value of 0.0377. In conclusion, this research reveals a positive correlation between land surface temperature (LST) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), indicating that as land surface temperature increases, so does the NDVI value.
