COMMUNITY SERVICE "ENGLISH FOR DRIVER" FOR FORTUNA RENTAL DRIVERS BY PNUP ENGLISH LECTURERS

Abstract

This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to enhance the English language skills of Fortuna Rental drivers in Maros and Makassar, focusing on marginalized tourism communities affected by COVID-19. The PKM team aims to improve communication skills, increase income, and equip drivers with online marketing skills for the new normal era. This activity involves a blended workshop with partners and the PNUP team, involving a needs analysis, preparation of training materials, implementation of training topics, and evaluation of training activities. It covers English language skills, multicultural etiquette, communication, and social media marketing techniques for taxi and online travel drivers. The English language training for commuting drivers involves two lecturers, one Indonesian lecturer, and two students, 12 participants from travel driver-partners using online tutorials and guides. The training took place for four weeks, with meetings twice a week and eight online and field meetings.. The result of the community service activity showed that participants expressed high enthusiasm for learning English for Fortuna Rental drivers, who can now learn independently through modules, video conversations, and pronunciation-corrected conversations. They expect that these activities will continue to enhance the English language skills of Fortuna Travel drivers in the future.
