KARAKTERISTIK DAN PERMASALAHAN EKS PABRIK GULA SEWUGALUR DI DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA

Abstract

Ex SewuGalur Sugar Factory has a potential that can be developed to increase income and image for SewuGalur Regency, but this has not been managed well. Therefore, it is interesting to discuss the characteristics and problems in the management of the ex SewuGalur Sugar Factory in its current condition. This study uses a qualitative method. The results of this research show that although the SewuGalur sugar factory building can no longer be found due to acts of destruction and looting by the Japanese occupation forces in 1942-1943, several buildings still remain which can still be found. The use of buildings that still exist today also varies from those occupied by the owners themselves, to those inhabited by people who receive wages from the owners to maintain and be housekeepers. In order to preserve historical heritage and at the same time provide benefits to local residents, it is proposed that the government collaborate with the private sector to establish an Open-Air Sugar Factory Museum in the ex SewuGalur sugar factory area
