Abstract

The process of designing a product in today's industrial world no longer relies on conventional methods but utilizes a computer tool through design and optimization software commonly known as Computer-Aided Design (CAD). However, with the challenges of global competition at hand, many vocational school teachers, especially in South Sulawesi, have not yet mastered information technology or computer technology in the field of design and analysis. The goal of this training activity is to provide new knowledge to mechanical engineering teachers in the Makassar City area, particularly at SMK 2 Makassar and its surroundings, through the introduction of CAD technology, specifically Autodesk Inventor, so that it can serve as an alternative to the conventional design and product development process, transitioning towards computerization. The method employed in this training includes theory, practice, case studies, and discussions. The training begins with a pretest at the beginning of the training. The subsequent process involves training materials covering sketching, parts, assembly, and detail drawing. At the end of the activity, participants are given a final project assignment, which serves as an evaluation of the training. It is hoped that the competencies gained by participants during the training will be beneficial for the development of teaching methods for students at SMK 2 Makassar, particularly in the Mechanical Engineering Department.
