Abstract

One solution to overcome the problems of people who living in Salenrang Village, Maros Regency (South Sulawesi) was through partnership village community service program. At present, Salenrang Village is known as tourism village and therefore, the community faced difficulties in separating coconut husk as raw materials used for souvenir making process. The aim of the partnership program was to design and construct a tool to accelerate the process and replace the manual works done by the villagers which have taken more time and efforts. After field observation, designing and assembling process were taken place.  Technical test of the equipment was also carried out to ensure the tool made could work properly.  Last stage was to finalize and to handover the machine to the community as  partner of this program.  The program has generated one unit of coconut husk separator machine with 2.4 kg/hour capacity.  It has been tested that the machine could increase the quantity and quality of souvenir’s raw materials needed by the industry.
