The people of the Kabat sub-district mostly work as farmers, because the agricultural land is extensive and there are some building material craftsmen. Most people work as farmers, so the availability of straw waste is very abundant. So far, straw waste is still widely used as animal feed by residents and fuel for making conventional bricks. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize this abundant raw material of rice straw agricultural waste as advanced building materials that are environmentally friendly, economical, high quality, and competitive with conventional bricks and industrial fabrication. BERATON is an innovative interlocking brick/block product that utilizes rice straw waste. It is made from a mixture of sand, cement, calcium, and shredded rice straw waste. The blocks interlock vertically and horizontally, resembling modified Lego blocks or Batako material, forming a combination of the letters "U" and "M".Based on the results of the Likert scale and statistical tests evaluating pre-test to post-test activities, it is evident that Beraton products were able to provide a socio-economic impact on the community, showing an increase from 65% to 72% (an increase of 7%). The community was also able to improve their product manufacturing skills and understand interlock bricks from 82% to 86% (a rise of 4%). Empowerment of building material craftsmen and farmer groups is expected to provide additional knowledge and skills in the production of advanced building materials and have competitiveness.
