Abstract

The use of the internet in this digital era has led to the spread of hoax news (fake news). Hoaxes have serious impacts and cause a lot of confusion and fear. Hoaxes can also trigger fraud and riots between netizens. The government through the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information routinely holds digital literacy in various cities in Indonesia. Digital literacy as an educational effort in anticipating the phenomenon of the spread of hoax news and the wise use of digital technology today. The Balikpapan city government also collaborates to contribute to the implementation of this digital literacy. The Balikpapan city digital literacy activity aims to provide educational benefits for the surrounding community so that they are not easily provoked and anticipate hoaxes, thus realizing the slogan as a city of faith that is at peace with each other and free from various threats of incorrect information. The speakers who were invited were from practitioners, academics, and various digital communities.
