PENERAPAN METODE BERCERITA MENGGUNAKAN TEKS NARATIF UNTUK PEMBELAJARAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA BAHASA INGGRIS

Abstract

Language competent is the essential components to develop the human resource development by paying attention to the Language components involving the vocabularies, grammar, and pronunciation. English language Use needs the special attention in teaching for vocational high school students. This study investigated to the implementation of storytelling to practice English speaking skill for the students in the classroom by using the narrative texts. Descriptive Qualitative was used in this research. Data were collected by the purposive random sampling by using the instrument of the generic structure of narrative texts. The result showed that the texts used for teaching students must be classified to the determined points involving the direct meeting, structured assignments, and independent learning by paying attention to the available time for duration each step. Additionally, creating the questions to strengthen the ideas to speak up became the trigger for student in bridging competencies from reading to speaking. So, it could be concluded that the storytelling was applicable method in teaching Speaking Skill for the students in Vocational High School. Hopefully, this study is beneficial in teaching and learning process especially for encouraging the students to use English in the classroom.
